Lynch Arrested On Felony Weapons Charge
Bills running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested in California this past week on a felony charge of possession of a concealed firearm. Lynch, 22, was arrested last Wednesday night when Culver City police found a loaded weapon in his car.

He was charged with felony possession of a concealed firearm.

The incident, first reported by Profootballtalk.com, was subsequently confirmed to Buffalo television station WIBV by Culver City police.

The arrest came three days after Lynch played at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

After being transported to the booking center, Lynch was released on $35,000 bond. Police said the case has been submitted to the District Attorney's office for filing consideration.

On Sunday afternoon, the Bills issued the following statement through VP of Communications Scott Berchtold: "We can confirm that Marshawn was arrested in California and has retained an attorney. We are in the process of trying to gather the facts and will not offer a comment while that process is ongoing."

It is the second brush with the law for Lynch in the last year. He was involved in a hit and run incident in downtown Buffalo in May 2008 and was less-than cooperative with police investigators for nearly a full month before admitting to being the driver.

He pled guilty to failing to use sufficient care to avoid hitting a pedestrian and was fined $100 dollars.

Lynch was not suspended by the NFL for that incident, but could face suspension this time for both the charge and repeat offender status.

As PFT's Mike Florio wrote when he first reported on today's arrest, Lynch could possibly face sanctions under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy depending on his legal status and whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell views this incident as a repeat offense in light of his reckless driving situation from 2008.

Stay tuned. ... We'll obviously have more on this story in coming days (and given Lynch's approach to last summer's hit and run, perhaps months). As always, breaking developments will be posted in the News & Views section of the site and more in-depth information and analysis will be added here in the Headline News section as needed.
