The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... Bryant and the Cowboys have until Wednesday to come to a long-term deal or shelve negotiations for the season. So what will Bryant do if he doesn't get his long-term money? Bryant decided to get the message out himself on Twitter: "As much as I love football...on my beautiful babies.. I apologize #cowboynation but I will not be there if no deal #fact."
Diehards Line:
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Bryant and Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones spoke last week. It was a private, cordial conversation. According to a high level Cowboys source, Bryant did not say that he was going to miss training camp or the regular season if a long-term deal can't be struck. Clearly that's changed. Of course, missing part of camp is what unsigned players do. It's their right. If that absence extends into the regular season, it's a much different story. Bryant is due $12.82 million in 2015 if he signs his franchise tag. It's very rare for a player to sit out games in these circumstances. Still, as NFL.com put it, "The increase in rhetoric from both sides is, on the other hand, entirely typical of summer-long negotiations. ..." We'll find out by Wednesday if deadlines spur action for Bryant.
