The Facts: Lynch might want to show up to OTAs. While the star running back has been absent from the facility, 2013 second-rounder Christine Michael has been showing coaches he deserves a big opportunity this season. Last week, Pete Carroll raved about Michael and said he would "get a ton of work." On Wednesday, OC Darrell Bevell took the Michael hype train to a whole other track. "We are going to be running back by committee," Bevell said at a Seahawks Town Hall event Wednesday night. "We really like what Christine Michael is doing right now. ... He has breakaway speed and power behind his pads."
Diehards Line:
As NFL.com points out, splitting carries is the NFL norm these days, but a tailback platoon would be a surprise in Seattle. Lynch has been the engine that drives the Super Bowl champs, playing in all 16 games the past two seasons while racking up 26 total touchdowns. Michael, on the other hand, was able to get in just four games in 2013. And it was only last month that Seahawks RBs coach Sherman Smith told the team's official website that taking Lynch off the field is a bad idea because it hurts the offense. So all the above chatter might just be their way of telling Lynch to show up to the offseason sessions. Either way, fantasy football owners shouldn't be backing off Lynch at this point.
