Dolphins Fire HC Brian Flores In Unexpected Move
After three seasons, Brian Flores is out as head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins announced Monday that Flores had been relieved on his duties. Flores completed his third season as head coach with a 24-25 record.

"I made a decision today to part ways with Brian Flores," said Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. " After evaluating where we are as an organization and what we need going forward to improve, I determined that key dynamics of our football organization weren't functioning at a level I want it to be and felt that this decision was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins. I believe we have a talented young roster in place and have the opportunity to be much better in 2022. I want to thank Brian for his hard work and wish him nothing but the best in his future."

The move comes as a surprise, as Flores appeared to have righted the ship after a shaky start. But Dolphins owner Stephen Ross apparently felt that the team’s step backward this season was unacceptable.

Now big questions are looming about the future of the franchise and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and whether the next coach’s job will be to get Tagovailoa playing better — or to move on from him. The Dolphins have shown interest in trading for Deshaun Watson, when and if the lawsuits that many female massage therapists have brought against Watson are resolved in a way that makes acquiring him feasible.

Worth noting. ... NFL Network's Ian Rapoport pointed out Flores was a signfiicant reason why Watson wanted to be in Miami. WIth Flores out, this situation may have changed.

We don’t know who the Dolphins’ quarterback of the future is, but we do know that Flores is no longer their coach.

Former Dolphins’ HC Brian Flores now is expected to be a prime candidate to get head coaching consideration elsewhere during this next hiring cycle, per sources.
