Walker Gets His Wish; Traded To Broncos...
The Broncos acquired disgruntled Packers receiver Javon Walker in a draft-day trade Saturday, sending Green Bay their second round pick.

Walker, coming off a serious knee injury as he enters the final year of his contract, vowed never again to play for the Packers.

Green Bay refused to redo his deal last year and Walker tore up a knee in the season opener.

Prior to the injury, Walker had steadily progressed throughout his career, going from 23 catches for 319 yards in 2002 to 41 for 716 in 2003 and 89 for 1,382 a year later. He snagged 12 touchdown receptions in his last season, and helped the Packers to playoff appearances in each of his years with the club.

Of course, the Broncos have their own unhappy wideout in Ashley Lelie, who wasn't pleased with the Broncos' interest in Terrell Owens and has declined to attend the club's offseason conditioning program, forgoing a $100,000 contract incentive to work out instead in Tempe, Ariz.

Owens eventually signed with Dallas, but if Lelie took the team's interest in T.O. as a slight, how do you think he'll view the acquisition of Walker?

Meanwhile, as Profootballtalk.com editor Mike Florio pointed out, the real question about Walker is whether the Broncos are locking up him for the long-term. Otherwise, Florio suggests, "they spent a second-round pick for a one-year rental."

NFL Network insider Adam Schefter, however, suggested the Broncos wouldn't have made the deal without having at least worked out the basic parameters of a long-term arrangement. ...

Whatever the case, I'll be watching Denver's receiving corps closely in coming weeks and will bring you more as we find out where Walker, Lelie, potential sleeper David Terrell and disappointing youngster Darius Watts fit in with veteran Rod Smith.
