The Facts: The Vikings didn’t plan on playing Dobbs in Week 9, but they are planning on having him make the start in Week 10. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell made that announcement at a Monday press conference.

Diehards Line: Dobbs entered Sunday’s game against the Falcons in the first quarter after Jaren Hall left with an injury and he piloted an improbable comeback win five days after joining the Vikings in a trade with the Cardinals. Even if Dobbs had not impressed while pulling out the 31-28 win, the Vikings would likely be making the same plans. Hall was diagnosed with a concussion, so the Vikings can’t plan on having the rookie available against the Saints. Sean Mannion is on the practice squad and Nick Mullens is on injured reserve, which makes Dobbs the easy choice to lead the Minnesota offense this week.

The Facts: Akers will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Diehards Line: That was believed to be the case as soon as Akers went down on Sunday, and it was confirmed by an MRI today, coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed today. This is the second time Akers has torn his Achilles. He previously tore it in July of 2021 when he was with the Rams and made a remarkably quick recovery, getting back on the field for the final game of the regular season. But even if he can repeat that remarkably quick recovery this time, he won’t be at full speed until April. Akers is second on the Vikings with 138 rushing yards this season, and without him the Vikings don’t have much in the way of a backup running back behind Alexander Mattison.

The Facts: HC Jonathan Gannon announceed that Murray will start for the Cardinals Sunday against the Falcons, if all goes well in practice this week.

Diehards Line: Gannon added that Murray will take the reps with starters this week and barring a setback or unforeseen issues, he'll make his 2023 regular-season debut.

The Facts: Bears designated RB Khalil Herbert, WR Equanimeous St. Brown and DB Josh Blackwell for return from injured reserve.

Diehards Line: All three were placed on IR in Week 6 and now have a 21-day window to be activated. The status of all three merits our attention this week, but a Thursday night kickoff against the Panthers could be an issue in terms of getting up to speed.

The Facts: Giants QB Daniel Jones suffered a knee injury in week nine's matchup vs the Raiders. The team believes that this could be a significant injury, perhaps a torn ACL.

Diehards Line:Danny Devito filled in for Jones, and completed 15 of 20 passes for 175 yards, a touchdown, and two Interceptions.

The Facts: Eagles TE Dallas Goedert was taken to the locker room late in the third quarter during Sunday's game vs the Cowboys.

Diehards Line:Goedert has a forearm injury and is questionable to return.

The Facts: Giants QB Daniel Jones has been taken to the locker room due to a knee injury.

Diehards Line:Backup QB Tommy Devito has entered the game.

The Facts: Vikings’ HC Kevin O’Connell told reporters that Akers suffered an Achilles injury today.

Diehards Line:If torn, that would be the second of his career. ... Akers was injured late in the third quarter with the Vikings driving down the field. Akers caught a ball over the middle of the field and was wrenched down awkwardly. He was able to come off the field under his own power, but did so gingerly. After being looked at on the sidelines, Akers was carted back to the locker room for further evaluation and ruled out.
