Chase Brown 2023 Outlook
While off-season questions about Joe Mixon's future in Cincinnati have cooled down, there are some off-field issues that could cause problems for the veteran. If that's a concern for you, Brown could be the insurance policy you're looking for this season. Brown, the Bengals’ fifth-round pick out of Illinois, produced just shy of 1,900 scrimmage yards last season. He also posted a 4.43 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. He can pack a major punch if utilized in the right way. As FantasyPros suggested, if Mixon's issues or injuries cost him time -- or if the veteran struggles at times (this past season, Mixon only managed 3.9 yards per carry on 249 carries, under 1,000 rushing yards, and eight rushing touchdowns)— Brown is the type of experienced back that can step in and immediately be a starter. Samaje Perine is no longer on the roster, leaving Brown, Trayveon Williams and Chris Evans as the remaining backs on the depth chart. And in this Bengals’ offense, assuming he gets an opportunity to contribute, Brown would be positioned to succeed.
