De'Von Achane 2023 Outlook
Achane led FBS football with 7.0 yards per carry in 2021 despite not even being Texas A&M’s starting running back yet. His skillset demanded attention in the Aggies’ offense, and when he received a starter’s workload in 2022 he did not disappoint. Being 5- 8 1/2 did not exactly help his draft stock, but he could make for a fascinating fit in Mike McDaniel’s offense. Achane’s explosiveness and fearlessness may make up for his lack of size, and if Achane sees space out wide in the Miami Dolphins’ zone run scheme, his height won’t be holding him back. Achane might turn out to be a frustrating case for fantasy owners. One day you might see him with a stat line like “three carries, 89 yards, one TD” because of his playmaking ability, but the rookie will have to take what he gets in a rotation headed by Raheem Mostert and also featuring Jeff Wilson and Myles Gaskin. Finally, previous warnings about Miami’s difficult schedule for fantasy running backs and lack of total attempts also hinder Achane’s ceiling in Year 1.
