Skyy Moore 2023 Outlook
Although Moore finished his rookie campaign without a regular-season touchdown, he made an impact and gained plenty of experience just the same. The Western Michigan product, who was selected 54th overall in 2022, contributed five catches for 17 yards and two carries for seven yards to Kansas City’s run to the Super Bowl title. He had a fourth-quarter touchdown catch that helped the Chiefs edge Philadelphia 38-35 for the championship. The Chiefs are looking for Moore to make a more sizable contribution in 2023. As a rookie, his top effort came in a 30-27 win at the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 20, as Moore snagged five of his six targets for 63 yards. “Year 1 to Year 2 is where you have the most improvement, and I’m coming into a situation where I know the playbook now, I know my coaches and I know what’s expected,” Moore told reporters when he returned to his alma mater for its spring game in April. “Really, there’s no excuse. … I’m definitely coming in with a more strict mindset.'
Skyy Moore 2022 Outlook
Replacing Tyreek Hill is no easy task. The Chiefs signed JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency to help fill the target/production void. Drafting Moore on Day 2 takes that another step forward. He was just shy of 1,300 receiving yards last season, and he wowed a lot of scouts with his Combine workout in Indianapolis. As ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay noted, Moore might not have Hill's speed -- though he ran a 4.41 in the 40 at the Combine, so he's no slouch in that department -- but he will look an awful lot like Hill when running routes for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Moore's best trait is generating yardage after the catch by making defenders miss. He excels at beating press coverage with elite short-area quickness, sure hands and a smooth transition after the catch. And while he has a smaller build, Moore will make plays in the vertical game. He's at his best out of the slot, but he can also play out wide, depending on what Kansas City decides. As for possible workload, Moore has a shot at a significant role with Mecole Hardman and Valdes-Scantling far from proven commodities and Smith-Schuster new to the team, Moore is worth watching in redraft.
