Ja'Marr Chase 2022 Outlook
Five months after an assortment of dropped passes in the preseason caused consternation among Bengals fans regarding Chase, the team's first-round draft pick laid those worries to rest in the most emphatic way possible. Chase was named the 2021 NFL AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. ... Chase became the first wide receiver to take the OROY award since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2014. Chase started every game, amassing 81 catches for 1,455 yards, a stout average of 18 yards per catch, and 13 touchdowns. No rookie in the Super Bowl era has piled up more receiving yards, and the total was a franchise record, as well, breaking Chad Johnson's mark of 1,440. Chase's 266 yards in a Week 17 win over the Kansas City Chiefs were a single-game rookie record. With speed and quickness that allowed him to generate a great deal of separation from defensive backs, he proved to be a dynamic addition to an explosive offense. Now, Chase has already established himself as one of the NFL's best playmakers, and he's only 21 years old. Safe to say Chase, working alongside his college teammate Joe Burrow, has many more good years ahead in the NFL. Given the circumstances, Chase's redraft value is almost has high as his Dynasty value.
Ja'Marr Chase 2021 Outlook
The Bengals reunited Joe Burrow with former LSU teammate Chase, making the receiver the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. As NFL.com reminded readers, the duo was electric in 2019, with Chase compiling 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 TDs from Burrow during their national championship run. (Chase opted out of the 2020 season.) Chase is a game-changer with the ability to get open against any coverage, has a second gear to generate space even against speedier corners, and is a solid route runner entering the NFL. Chase's ball skills and body control are exceptional. He has the leaping ability and sure hands to win against tight coverage. The Bengals already had a very good receiver tandem in Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins, but Chase is an alpha, who will eventually replace A.J. Green as Cincy's leading weapon. If Chase eventually becomes as productive as Green, who began his career with five consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, Dynasty investors spending one of the top three picks overall will come out ahead. As for redraft? Justin Jefferson sets a high bar, but Chase has the ability to excel even with Higgins and Boyd in the mix.
