Cole Kmet 2022 Outlook
Kmet is entering his third season as a pro coming off a 60-catch, 612-yard campaign in the league's worst passing game in 2021. He just turned 23 and figures to play a big role for an offense lacking surefire pass-catching weapons. When Matt Nagy arrived, it was apparent that the tight end would be a major part of the offense. Or at least, that's how it was supposed to work. We don't really know yet what the tight end means to new coordinator Luke Getsy's offense, but he likes that he'll be able to use Kmet in different spots. "I've been very impressed with Cole," Getsy said. "And you go back to that thing we talked about before, just the ability, the flexibility as a player, I think he has all that stuff. So I'm excited to see him have a bunch of different roles in our offense. ..." Although Kmet failed to find the end zone, he was targeted 93 times in 2021 (eight-most among TEs) and according to numberFire.com, Justin Fields recorded his highest adjusted yards per attempt (6.1) when targeting Kmet last season, so there a budding connection as Fields heads into his first full season as a starter.
