Jalen Reagor 2020 Outlook
There were plenty of predictions that the Eagles would take a wide receiver in the first round of this year’s draft, but there wasn’t much consensus about which receiver it might be due to the depth of this year’s group. When it came time to make a selection at No. 21, they had a choice of players that included Justin Jefferson and Brandon Aiyuk, but the Eagles opted to take Reagor. While he should see an immediate role on offense, the Eagles aren’t likely to go all-in on the rookie from Day 1. In fact, with DeSean Jackson ready to return to the lineup, Reagor is likely to take a backseat to the veteran at the Z receiver position. Jackson, if healthy, is expected to be the team’s top receiving threat, which should take some pressure off the first-round rookie. And if Jackson eats up the majority of the snaps at the Z receiver position, NJ.com suggests the Eagles should take advantage of Reagor’s versatility. Unlike JJ Arcega-Whiteside last year, Reagor will probably learn multiple positions this offseason. The slot receiver position is probably Reagor’s best option for consistent playing time as a rookie, but the team might have to change course if Alshon Jeffery isn’t available for the start of the regular season.
