Randall Cobb 2020 Outlook
Deshaun Watson won't have DeAndre Hopkins to throw to anymore after Houston traded him in the offseason. The Texans instead added receivers Brandin Cooks and Cobb and running back David Johnson. "We're excited about the veteran weapons, the new weapons that we have," Watson said. The Texans traded with the Rams for Cooks and landed Johnson from Arizona as part of the Hopkins deal. They signed Cobb as a free agent. Statistically, Cobb had his best season since the middle of the decade, catching 55 passes for 828 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games (six starts) for Dallas last season. The veteran silenced the thought he might be over the hill with his play in a group headlined by Amari Cooper and supplemented by the likes of Michael Gallup and Tavon Austin. The Texans' top 3 receivers are expected to be Cooks, Will Fuller and Kenny Stills, leaving Cobb to battle the disappointing Keke Coutee and DeAndre Carter for the fourth spot. It's a rotation Cobb is fully capable of breaking into, but as CBSSports.com suggested, he's unlikely to produce at a high enough level on a consistent basis to warrant drafting in most leagues. Most likely, Cobb could emerge as a waiver-wire addition should one of his teammates miss any time.
