The Facts: In a move that could be interpreted as a sign that franchise QB Peyton Manning might not be recovered from knee surgery in time for the start of the regular season, the Colts have added a veteran quarterback. And possibly two. Per a league source, Gray has signed with the Colts. We've also gotten an unconfirmed tip that the Colts have added Jared Lorenzen, who was cut by the Giants on July 23.
Diehards Line:Not sure we'd go as far as PFT's Mike Florio in suggesting it's an indication Manning won't be ready Week 1, but the addition of two QBs -- if that's indeed the case -- certainly bolsters their depth. The other quarterbacks on the roster are Jim Sorgi, Josh Betts and rookie Adam Tafralis. Gray spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars, appearing in 11 games and starting four (all in 2007). He signed with the Texans as a free agent but was released after failing to sufficiently pick up the offense during off-season workouts.
