The Facts: Engram was making a statement by staying away from a voluntary mini-camp, that he was worth more than the $1.7 million salary. But he's also making a statement by swallowing hard and coming back to the fold. Engram told Times columnist Steve Kelley he will be there when the Hawks open their training camp in Kirkland in two weeks. "I'll be ready to go," he said. "I'm going to be me. I'm going to be ready to work hard, because I don't hold any bitterness. I'm not going to be upset about something that didn't happen. Everybody has to handle his business individually, but I realize nobody is bigger than the team."
Diehards Line:Engram had 94 catches for 1,147 yards in 2007. Despite those totals, he is somewhere between the 75th and 80th highest-paid receiver in the league, yet the Seahawks have told him they will not negotiate with him until he is a free agent at the end of this season. ... His decision to be on hand for camp -- and Deion Branch's ongoing recovery from reconstructive knee surgery -- all but guarantee Engram will open the season starting opposite Nate Burleson.
