The Facts: Jones was arrested and issued a citation at Nashville International Airport on Friday for carrying a loaded .32 caliber gun in his baggage, an airport spokesperson confirmed. Jones was arrested at around 11:40 a.m. and charged with a misdemeanor citation of unlawful possession of a firearm. He was released and allowed to proceed on a flight to Phoenix.
Diehards Line:Jones issued a statement through his agent: "Today I was cited for carrying a handgun when going through security at Nashville International Airport. Obviously I did not know I was carrying my gun. ... I want to apologize for any embarrassment this might cause my family, the Titans organization or my teammates." For the record, Jones has a license for the weapon and a permit to carry it -- although obviously not in airports. ... Jones had 21 receptions and two touchdowns last season, his third in the NFL. He finished it on IR (groin) and his role this season is unclear.
