The Facts: Peterson underwent an emergency appendectomy Monday night. Peterson, entering his seventh season, all with the Bears, will miss the rest of the week's organized team activities, but likely will be ready to work out again in two weeks, according to running backs coach Tim Spencer.
Diehards Line:The Bears released running back Cedric Benson on Monday night, leaving them with Peterson, regarded as a dependable backup, rookie Matt Forte, who was taken in the second round of April's draft and Garrett Wolfe manning their backfield.
