The Facts: One day after signing former Bears place-kicker Paul Edinger to a one-year, $540,000 contract, head coach Mike Tice said said Edinger was signed to create competition for Elling and that the job is still Elling's to lose. Diehards Line:Perhaps Tice should have said until somebody beats him out. Edinger, who has converted 75.3 percent of his career field-goal attempts, can earn an additional $150,000 in incentives if he makes 80-85 percent of his attempts this season and $250,000 if he makes more than 85 percent.
