The Facts: Gray said Sunday that he plans to sign a one-year contract with the Texans. The Texans are giving Gray a one-year deal worth $635,000, including $40,000 to sign. "I don't plan on leaving here," Gray said today. "I'm ready to sign. We've been talking on the phone, and now I'm going to meet face to face with coach (Gary) Kubiak and coach (OC) Kyle Shanahan. ... My agent (Drew Rosenhaus) has an agreement in place. It's a one-year deal."
Diehards Line:While the deal isn't official yet, it certainly seems to be heading that way. ... The Texans have two veteran QBs in Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels. GM Rick Smith said last week that he wants to go into the season with three QBs rather than two. Schaub's shoulder injury last season was cited as a reason for that need. ... Still, look for Gray's signing (assuming it gets done) to rekindle speculation and discussion about trading Rosenfels, who has drawn some trade interest (specifically from Minnesota).
