The Facts: McCareins is interested in returning to the team. But the question now appears to be how much interest the Titans have in him coming back. "We haven't heard from them yet, but I know that's a team Justin has interest in. There's familiarity, plus [OC Mike] Heimerdinger is back there," agent Cliff Brady said.
Diehards Line:McCareins, a fourth-round pick of the Titans in 2000, was released Tuesday by the New York Jets, the team Tennessee dealt him to after the 2003 season. He thrived in Heimerdinger's system as a third receiver with 46 catches his final year with the Titans in 2003. McCareins caught 56 passes in his first season with the Jets in 2004, and was reunited with Heimerdinger for one season there in 2005, catching 43 balls. Even though they re-signed Justin Gage Wednesday, the Titans are still expected to look for receivers in the free agent market when it opens on Friday. Last year, the team had some interest in trading for McCareins, but nothing ever materialized.
