The Facts: The Redskins voided Brunell's contract, saving $3.4 million against the salary cap and getting them under the $116 million limit more than 30 hours before tomorrow's 11:59 p.m. deadline.
Diehards Line:It doesn't mean the 37-year-old won't return, but if he does, it will be at a lower price than his previously slated $6.5 million. Much will depend on the team's ability to retain Todd Collins. If Collins, who is expected to draw interest from the Jaguars, Falcons and Rams, moves on, Brunell's chances of returning improve. That said, there have been reports suggesting the team could pursue veteran Trent Dilfer for that role. Dilfer is currently said to be deciding whether to retire or play on another season.
