The Facts: Kamara met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday in New York City regarding his potential suspension for his involvement in a fight outside a Las Vegas nightclub in 2022. HC Dennis Allen confirmed Wednesday that Kamara was in New York for the meeting. He said he expects Kamara to return to the team on Friday, as the Saints have a scheduled off day on Thursday. "I think it shows initiative on Alvin's part to want to get out ahead of this and get his side of the story out in terms of visiting with the commissioner. So, we'll see where it goes," he said.
Diehards Line:
Allen said the Saints and Kamara felt the meeting "was the right thing to do. ... We'll let the process play out, and then we'll react to whatever decision is made." Kamara reached a plea agreement at the beginning of July and is no longer facing a felony charge for his role in the fight, which occurred on the eve of the Pro Bowl in February 2022. The league office has not indicated to the team whether Kamara will be suspended, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that's the expected outcome. The NFL states in its personal conduct policy that a player does not need to have a criminal conviction to still face a suspension. The question is the length of his expected absence. We'll continue to watch for more.
