The Facts: Perine will have a "significant role" in the Denver Broncos offense in 2023 according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic.
Diehards Line:
The Perine hype train keeps chugging along as Javonte Williams recovers from a major knee injury he suffered last fall -- one that could keep him sidelined or limited to start the 2023 regular season. Signed as a free agent this offseason after three seasons as the Bengals' third-down back, the 27-year-old Perine could be in for his biggest backfield workload since his rookie season in Washington. He totaled 782 yards on 197 touches that season as a fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma. Perine, Kosmider said, "should be a fixture" in the Denver offense regardless of Williams' health. HC Sean Payton has a long history of divvying up the backfield. During Payton’s 15 seasons as Saints head coach, the team's second-leading rusher had more than 95 carries 11 times. Given all this, Perine is a solid redraft target for fantasy managers who largely fade running back in the opening rounds.
