The Facts: According to SI.com’s Albert Breer, Davis’s name has been floated out there a little in trade talks, largely due to his $13.67 million cap number. But Breer added it’s hard to see another team giving the Jets what they’d need to part with a receiver now, given Aaron Rodgers is aboard.
Diehards Line:
Throughout the offseason, Davis' name often appeared as a potential cut or trade candidate for the New York Jets. HC Robert Saleh rebutted that notion recently. "He's gonna be on the team, yeah," Saleh said when asked directly about the wideout's future. Still, the team has plenty of options at wideout. Garrett Wilson is the clear alpha, and offseason additions of Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman and, most recently, Randall Cobb. So the renewed speculation that Davis, set to have a base salary of $10.5 million, could be out. Saleh insists in May that Davis will be on the team. We'll see if that "shakes out" true in September.
