The Facts: The Lions are trading Hockenson, a 2023 fourth-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick and a 2024 third-round pick, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per sources.
Diehards Line:Hockenson, selected No. 8 overall by Detroit in the 2019 NFL Draft, has produced 26 receptions for 395 yards and three touchdowns in 2022. A Pro Bowler in 2020, Hockenson has 186 receptions for 2,068 yards and 15 touchdowns in four seasons (47 games). Hockenson is under contract through the 2023 season provided the Vikings elect to exercise his fifth-year option this upcoming offseason. Vikings TE Irv Smith Jr. is expected to miss some time with a high-ankle sprain he suffered against the Cardinals on Sunday. For Detroit, Brock Wright and James Mitchell are next men up.
