The Facts:
Walker’s rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks is getting off to a bit of a bumpy start. The running back is sidelined while dealing with a hernia, HC Pete Carroll said on Wednesday. “He’s having a procedure done,” Carroll said. “This is not a sports hernia – it’s not what he’s dealing with – it’s something a little bit different. We have a chance to get him back quickly.”
Diehards Line:
Asked if Walker had surgery, Carroll said “It’s a procedure,” while flashing a grin. Carroll said he wasn’t sure how to describe exactly what Walker is dealing with but “it’s not a muscular thing” and hopes to have the rookie back for Week 1 of the regular season. Walker missed practice Tuesday as well as Wednesday’s walk-through. Walker got the start and had five carries for 19 yards with a long run of seven when the Seahawks lost 32-25 to the Steelers in the preseason opener on Saturday. Rashaad Penny is expected to be the starter to open the season.
