The Facts: The Browns re-signed McLaughlin, the team announced on Tuesday, as their special teams unit begins to take shape -- or at least the camp battles that could decide them.
Diehards Line:
A day after signing punter Corey Bojorquez, McLaughlin is back in the fold after struggling down the stretch of the 2021 season. It’s likely, however, the Browns will add competition for McLaughlin, potentially in the draft. McLaughlin signed with the Browns last offseason after spending time with five teams in two years. He beat out Cody Parkey for the kicking job after Parkey was injured in the preseason. He made 13 of his first 15 field goal attempts and all 24 extra point attempts over the first 10 weeks of the season. Things fell apart after, as McLaughlin made just two of six field goals over the season’s final seven games.
