The Facts: The Dolphins and Edmonds reached agreement on a two-year, $12.6 million deal that includes $6.1 million guaranteed, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Diehards Line:
Edmonds was a seldom-used backup for the first two years of his career. Buried behind David Johnson, Edmonds amassed just 719 yards from scrimmage in his first two seasons combined. Over the past two seasons, however, Edmonds proved worthy of a starting role in the NFL. As Pro Football Network recently suggested, while he's not a proven three-down back, Edmonds is talented enough to be the 1A in a committee. That’s exactly what he was with James Conner in Arizona last season. At least, until he sustained a high ankle sprain and Conner flipped the split in his favor. Edmonds is 26 years old, but he has just 461 career touches and is nowhere near the end of his career. He could fare well in Mike McDaniel’s offense.
