The Facts: According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Browns tagged Njoku.
Diehards Line:
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Njoku is the first of a few tight ends to get tagged. It’s a bargain at just south of $11 million relative to the top of the market ($15 million per year). That said, the Browns and Njoku’s, agent Malki Kawa, have been in long-term negotiations on an extension. The hope is the tag is a place holder for an eventual deal. Remember: Previous reporting has suggested the Browns are more than willing to pay a premium here.
