The Facts: "It seems" the Minnesota Vikings are committed to Cousins as their starting quarterback for 2022, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Diehards Line:
As the Redzone.org points out, this seems to be the growing consensus of both the national media and the local Minnesota beat writers. Given the unstable quartback situations throughout the NFL this offseason, Cousins' performance in 2021 -- 4,221 passing yards, a 33-7 TD to INT ratio and a QB rating of 103.1 -- is plenty strong. The stumbling block remains that 2022 is the final season of Cousins' deal. Quarterbacks of Cousins' stature almost never head into the final year of a contract without some sort of adjustment. It's possible a year or two could be tacked on in a way that would not make Cousins prohibitive to trade in 2023.
