The Facts:
The Steelers and Haskins have now agreed to terms on a contract.
Diehards Line:
In late December, Haskins was cut by the Washington Football Team before the season ended, after just 13 starts in less than two years. The former first-round pick also recently visited the Carolina Panthers. Again, The interest in Haskins underscores the latent talent the Ohio State product harbors. A former first-round pick, the QB owns a big arm that can spray the ball all over the field. However, poor mechanics and struggles reading defenses have led to inconsistent play. Off-field concerns emanating from Washington led to his release. With Ben Roethlisberger expected back for another season, Haskins joins Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs along with Big Ben in the QBs room. But with Roethlisberger's future beyond this season in doubt, signing Haskins is an indication that Pittsburgh is looking for young signal-callers in the near future. Haskins owns talent if the Steelers are willing to nurture the 23-year-old who needs experience and positive coaching to get his career on track. Under Mike Tomlin, behind Big Ben, could be a positive landing spot for both parties.
