The Facts: The Panthers have released Gano, a source tells ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Diehards Line:
The veteran kicker has made 224-of-273 kicks since 2019. The Panthers will save $2.8 million against the salary cap, but add another $1.5 million on their dead money the next two years. Joey Slye, who took over for an injured Gano last season, will continue on as Carolina's PK. The strong-legged Slye was 25-of-32 (78.1 percent) on field goals last year and missed four extra points. He hit 8-of-11 field goals from 50 yards or longer.
