The Facts: Gandy-Golden tested positive for COVID-19 but has since self-quarantined and is asymptomatic, sources have told NBC Sports Washington.
Diehards Line:
Washington selected Gandy-Golden to boost their receiving group after a tremendously productive two-year stretch at Liberty University. He averaged 75 catches per season with 10 touchdowns and around 1,100 yards in two years at college. Some predict he could emerge as a starter opposite Terry McLaurin for the Redskins 2020 offense, and all indications are that Gandy-Golden’s bout with the Coronavirus won’t impact his ability to compete for playing time this fall. Kelvin Harmon seems the most likely competition for the other starting spot. This news does not mark the first positive test for COVID-19 in the NFL but it is the first reported positive test among Redskins players. Rams center Brian Allen and Broncos linebacker Von Miller are the active NFL players known to have tested positive so far.
