The Facts: According to multiple reports, the Bears are releasing Burton.
Diehards Line:
Burton, in the second season of a four-year, $32 million contract, missed the opener against the Packers and never appeared to play healthy, totaling 14 catches for 84 yards in eight games. The Bears placed him on injured reserve in mid-November, and he recently had surgery to repair the labrum in his hip. That might be an issue -- given the current circumstances that limit travel and the ability to have physicals performed. We'll continue to follow up on Burton's next stop. Meanwhile, the Bears have signed Jimmy Graham and Demetrius Harris this offseason. Adam Shaheen, Ben Braunecker, JP Holts, Jesper Horsted and Eric Saubert round out the tight end group.
