The Facts: NBCSports.com's Peter King kept asking people at the NFL Scouting Combine about the fate of Winston, and couldn’t find a landing spot for him. King added: "I doubt sincerely he’d be a starter on opening day 2020 if he leaves Tampa (which is likely)."
Diehards Line:
As the Redzone.org noted, while this is just one man's opinion, King is one of the most plugged-in and respected sports writers in the business. ESPN's Jenna Laine added the Bucs have a "level of frustration" with Winston's turnovers and HC Bruce Arians is "adamant" about exploring other options. Winston is still Tampa's fall-back option if they cannot land one of the veteran free agents on the market or negotiate a trade but the team has no intention of using the franchise tag on the former No.1-overall pick.
