The Facts: The NFL has suspended Herndon for the first four games of the season for a substance abuse policy violation. He pleaded guilty to DUI in June of 2018.
Diehards Line:The Jets remain excited about Herndon despite this news, a development that all involved expected. With all the defensive attention free-agent pickups Le'Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder will draw, the second-year TE has a chance to be the offense's breakout player. Last season he skipped right past the usual rookie learning curve, proving that he is not only a solid receiver but a quality blocker as well. Herndon was the No. 9 graded TE by Pro Football Focus and he was the Jets' highest-graded offensive player overall. His abilities aren't lost on new HC Adam Gase, who referred to Herndon as a "unicorn" during February's NFL Scouting Combine. Of prime interest to fantasy owners is the fact that Herndon was able to establish a strong connection with QB Sam Darnold. Don't be afraid to jump in with a late-round flier when others move on due to this suspension.
