The Facts: A year ago, Miller instituted some major changes to his offseason regimen. Miller increased the intensity and variety of his workouts in his native South Florida. And he adopted a healthier diet, emphasizing more leaner proteins and plenty of fruits and vegetables. It all paid off as Miller lost about eight pounds and was visibly leaner and more explosive. Now, Miller looks even better this offseason as he has maintained his conditioning gains. He's been darting around the Texans' practice field. "I think what I did in the offseason last year helped me be more explosive last year," Miller said. "So, I'm going to try and continue doing what I did last year and just try to help this team win any way possible.”
Diehards Line:
Last season, Miller had the highest average per carry of his three-year tenure with the Texans, averaging 4.6 yards per run and rushed for 973 yards and five touchdowns. Despite missing two games with rib and ankle injuries, Miller rushed for over 100 yards four times to tie a single-season career-high. He was added to the Pro Bowl roster as an alternate following a season during which he had a 97-yard touchdown run against the Tennessee Titans, the longest rush in franchise history. Miller is listed at 221 pounds again on the roster, the same as last year. According to Chronicle staffer Aaron Wilson, Miller looks quick and compact entering the final year of a four-year, $26 million contract and is due a $5.5 million nonguaranteed base salary. Even if D'Onta Foreman cuts into the carries, Miller's pass protection and receiving skills will keep him in the mix this season.
