The Facts: The Vikings on Wednesday officially declined to pick up Treadwell’s fifth-year contract option.
Diehards Line:
The decision was expected. Treadwell has been a disappointment since being selected with the No. 23 pick in the 2016 draft. The Vikings had until Friday to decide whether to pick up the option for 2020 worth $10.162 million. Such options are guaranteed in the event of injury. Treadwell, on the books to make $1.804 million in 2019, is now in line to become a free agent in March. In three seasons, Treadwell has caught 56 passes for 517 yards and one touchdown. He still could compete in 2019 to be the Vikings’ No. 3 receiver behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.
