The Facts: Patterson intends to sign with the Chicago Bears for $5 million per year, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Diehards Line:
It will be a two-year deal for Patterson in Chicago, Schefter added. ... As 247Sports.com noted, the Bears' offense, with HC Matt Nagy calling the shots, showed a willingness to get creative last season. The speedster entered last year with just 44 career carries between 2013 and 2017 before earning 42 carries last year with the Patriots. New England did not try to use him as a featured back but the team understood how to get the most out of him as a weapon. He ended the year by averaging a respectable 5.4 yards per carry. In addition to what he brings on the offensive side of the ball, Patterson is still considered one of the NFL's best return men and would greatly improve that area for Chicago.
