The Facts: The 49ers declined the contract option for Garcon.
Diehards Line:
The move comes as no surprise. Garcon signed a five-year, $47.5 million deal with the Niners in 2017, but injuries have limited him to 16 games over his two seasons with the team. He’s had 64 catches for 786 yards and a touchdown when he has been able to get on the field and, as Profootballtalk.com suggested, it’s not hard to see why the 49ers opted not to pay $6 million to see if Garcon could do better in 2019.
