The Facts: As Cain mentioned during locker room cleanout day, the plan is for him to be ready for training camp. GM Chris Ballard touched on Cain, when asked if the second-year receiver can help the wideout group this season: “We liked him a lot when we drafted him. We really liked him through OTAs and training camp."
Diehards Line:
Ballard added, however: "The negative is we don’t know yet. Hasn’t played an NFL game. He’s worked awfully hard to come back from this injury. He hasn’t missed a day. He’s on track to be ready for training camp. Now it’s a matter of him going out and having to prove it again. It’s almost like he’s a rookie again. For us to sit here and say no doubt this guy is going to be our No. 2 receiver, I can’t sit here and say that. Do I think he has the ability? Absolutely I do. But to say he’s going to reach that after his rookie season, I’m not there.” Remember, Cain was surprise standout last summer after being taken in the sixth round. He suffered a torn ACL in August. We'll be watching for more.
