The Facts: Gang Green has interest in Moncrief, according to people in the know.
Diehards Line:
As Daily News staffer Manish Mehta notes, the Jets have a boatload of salary cap space and not a whole lot of players actually under contract for 2019 and Moncrief, an unrestricted free-agent to be, could be a relatively affordable offensive piece that might help out Sam Darnold. Moncrief, who was second on the Jaguars in targets (89), receptions (48) and receiving yards (668) last season, has been sort of a Jets Killer in his career. Moncrief, 25, has scored a touchdown in each of his three games against the Jets. He’s topped 100 receiving yards twice against Gang Green, including his five-catch, 109-yard performance in a Week 4 win last season. The 6-2, 220-pound Moncrief, who spent his first four seasons in Indianapolis, has 200 career receptions for 2,543 yards and 21 touchdowns in 69 regular-season games.
