The Facts: According to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini, the Jets see Powell as a complementary back.
Diehards Line:
Cimini went on to note that Powell is more effective when he stays under 170 carries. Their five runs of 40-plus yards (four from Powell) were tied for most in the league, and their 14 rushes of 20-plus yards (nine for Powell) were sixth. But they finished only 19th in rushing offense. Matt Forte was banged up most of the season and had the worst year, statistically, of his 10-year pro career and could be cut this offseason. Elijah McGuire showed flashes in his rookie season and has a chance to develop into a starter. But if the Jets don't think McGuire is capable, they'll have to find someone.
