The Facts: Watkins tweaked his left ankle during positional drills in practice Sunday, briefly leaving the field with a trainer before returning to 11-on-11 action later. "I overextended on my foot on my route," Watkins explained after practice. "Usually I don't do that, but that play, I overextended and tweaked my ankle a little bit, but I'm fine."
Diehards Line:
The injury occurred to the same leg as a nagging foot injury that kept Watkins out of eight games last season and required surgery this past offseason. Watkins said his foot is "fine" and that Sunday's minor injury is unrelated. Watkins was initially held out of the start of an 11-on-11 drill later in practice, but he asked and was allowed to test his ankle in live action. He appeared to be moving without issue, catching a contested pass and landing squarely on both feet during a 7-on-7 drill later in practice. "I'll probably ice it and I'll be fine," he said. "I'll be out here [Monday]. ..." Stay tuned.
