The Facts: HC Mike Zimmer was gone for only two weeks, so he was surprised in the progress made by Bridgewater. "I come back and I said, 'Wow, Teddy! He's moving better,'" Zimmer said Tuesday. "Quite a bit better in my opinion. But he's still got a long way to go."
Diehards Line:Zimmer spent two weeks recovering from May 17 surgery to treat a detached retina in his right eye before resuming his on-field duties Monday. Bridgewater has been rehabilitating from a torn left ACL and dislocated knee suffered during practice last August. Although he hasn’t been cleared by doctors to practice, Bridgewater has been doing some individual work during organized team activities, but it was wasn’t included on video sent to Zimmer at his ranch near Cincinnati while he missed six workouts. “He’s happy with the progress,” the coach said. “I know he’s very impatient about wanting to get out there and go, but we have to do it within the best interest (for) him in the long run. At the end, the final say is going to be from the doctors. ..." Again, nobody should get too excited. The key phrase from Zimmer was the "long way to go."
