The Facts: Doyle rarely is the biggest player on the field. Or the fastest. Or the most athletic. But he's among the most diligent. He set career-highs last season with 59 catches, 584 yards and five touchdowns largely by being in the right place at the right time. By the second half of last season, QB Andrew Luck routinely was looking for Doyle as a safety valve during the all-too-common moments he found himself under siege in the pocket. "He's a reliable, reliable guy," HC Chuck Pagano said. "The quarterback has a ton of faith and trust in that guy. He's always where he's supposed to be, and that makes a huge difference."
Diehards Line:When Dwayne Allen was traded to New England in March, Doyle immediately became the longest tenured tight end on the roster. And it's not close. Erik Swoope is entering just his fourth year playing organized football and his second on the active roster. Brandon Williams is a free-agent addition who was brought in largely for his in-line blocking skills. And Darrell Daniels, Colin Jeter and Mo Alie-Cox are undrafted free agents, with the latter attempting to make the transition from college basketball to the NFL. In other words Doyle is the fantasy prospect of note here.
