The Facts: With the dearth of playmaking receivers on their roster, the Bills have been linked to potentially selecting a receiver in the first round of April's draft. Speaking Tuesday at the NFL's Annual League Meeting, HC Sean McDermott threw cold water on those mock drafts when asked if he thought the team's No. 2 receiver was currently on the roster. "I do. I do," he said. "And that will be fun to watch that battle throughout the preseason and training camp."
Diehards Line:
So who is that No.2? "That remains to be seen," McDermott added, "but I believe he is on the roster." The list of candidates for that spot are Philly Brown (who had 27 catches in 2016), Andre Holmes (coming off a 14-catch season in Oakland), Brandon Tate (who pulled in eight passes in Cincinnati), Jeremy Butler (who had two catches in San Diego last season), Walter Powell (who also had two catches in 2016), Dezmin Lewis (0 catches in one game played), Kolby Listenbee (who didn't play in in 2016) and Corey Washington (who hasn't played in the regular season since 2014). Of course, the team's No. 1 receiver, Sammy Watkins, only caught 28 passes while limited by injuries last season. After the Watkins underwent foot surgery in January, McDermott said the wideout is progressing. Let's all hope so for Tyrod Taylor's sake.
