The Facts: Three years into his head coaching career, and after a playoff berth and near-playoff berth, many have wondered if Jay Gruden and his .448 winning percentage really do belong at the helm of an NFL team. But Davis sounded like he had no such doubts. "Jay Gruden is probably one of my favorite coaches, all-time," Davis said. "And I say that because of his personality, his enthusiasm, his approach to the game. He's just a terrific coach. Everyone respects him, they look to him as a leader. He's just everything you could possibly want in a coach."

Diehards Line: Davis didn't just stop there, though. He went as far to say that Gruden is a reason why staying with the Redskins is such an attractive option for the free agent tight end. "I love him, I love him, and that's one of the other reasons that I wouldn't mind staying here," he said. "He allows the players to play really, really loose, and you want that in a coach." Aside from the way Gruden carries himself, it's obvious that Davis can fit in the coach's system. Last season showed that he, even as a No. 2 tight end behind Jordan Reed, can put up impressive numbers and be a featured weapon instead of an afterthought like he had been in previous years. Add those things up, plus the fact that the 33-year-old is from the area, and he made it clear that signing back with the Redskins is something he'd be very interested in doing.
