The Facts: Williams spent the last week as a tryout player at Jets minicamp and it seems the team liked what they saw from the former 49er. The Jets announced Friday that they have signed Williams to the 90-man roster. Wide receiver Quenton Bundrage was waived to open up a spot for Williams.
Diehards Line:
It has been a while since Williams last saw action in a regular season game. He spent last season on injured reserve with the Broncos after tearing his Achilles and was out of football during the 2014 season. Williams’ last regular playing time came with the 49ers, who drafted him in the sixth round of the 2010 draft and had him in the lineup 38 times before releasing him during the 2013 season. Williams caught 47 passes for 574 yards and four touchdowns with the Niners, but is probably best known for a pair of fumbled punt returns in the NFC championship game that helped the Giants advance to the Super Bowl after the 2011 season.
