The Facts: Chicago placed Wilson on injured reserve late last season after he fractured his left foot and HC John Fox announced on Wednesday that Wilson re-fractured the same foot during the workout. Wilson is expected to have surgery next week.
Diehards Line:
The recovery process will make Wilson a candidate to start the regular season on the physically unable to perform list, which would keep him from playing in the first six weeks of the year. The 2013 seventh-round pick set career highs with 28 catches and 464 yards in 11 appearances last season. Wilson’s role was a bit bigger than expected last year as a result of injuries to Alshon Jeffery, Eddie Royal and first-round pick Kevin White. All three are on the field now and rookie Daniel Braverman should join Marc Mariani and Cameron Meredith in having an increased chance at playing time while Wilson is out of action.
